Skydio is America’s leading developer of autonomous drone solutions. Our UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) platforms are designed to empower users around the world with enhanced productivity, creativity and safety in a wide range of applications.

Our founders met at MIT in 2009 while developing pioneering autonomous drone technology, and went on to play a significant role in Google’s Project Wing. Skydio was founded in 2014, and in 2018 we launched the R1 platform, which was widely regarded as a breakthrough in autonomous consumer drones and as a platform for commercial development.

Based on over a decade of expert R&D in AI, computer vision and UAS (unmanned aerial systems) technology, our products are designed, assembled, and supported in the U.S., with in-house-developed software and processors sourced from U.S. companies. This allows us to provide a high level of supply chain security and serve as a trusted partner to government and military clients.

Skydio drones are powered by a cutting-edge autonomy engine that uses up to nine deep neural networks to create and update a 3D model of the surrounding environment at over one million data points per second.

This state-of-the-art artificial intelligence provides 360-degree awareness and obstacle avoidance, enabling maximum situational awareness and safe autonomous flight even in highly challenging and complex environments. With the flying taken care of, users can focus on the mission and gain actionable insights faster than ever before.

Robust end-to-end security

Our products are designed from the ground up to provide integrated security throughout the entire UAS stack. Communications are protected by secure AES-encrypted wireless links, and all customer data is hosted on secure cloud infrastructure in the U.S.

We source from manufacturing partners that adhere to stringent security policies, and prioritize components from companies that meet or exceed U.S. government and regulatory agency security requirements.
