Buntar Aerospace overview

Introduction

Ukrainian startup Buntar Aerospace has been recognized as the startup of 2024 by the Innovation Development Fund Award. We remind you that this is a development.

In August 2023, Ukraine created a reconnaissance drone with a smart control system «Buntar», invisible to electronic warfare. The startup was founded by Ivan Kaunov, Kateryna Bezsudnaya and Bohdan Sas. The company combines military and startup experience, which allows the team to approach the improvement of defense products from a technical point of view.

Buntar Aerospace is a Ukrainian defense startup that creates the Buntar One reconnaissance UAV and Buntar Copilot — software for planning and executing reconnaissance missions. Founded in August 2023 by Ivan Kaunov, Kateryna Bezsudnaya, and Bohdan Sas, the startup combines military and startup experience, which allows the team to approach the improvement of defense products from a technical point of view. The team focused on the problem of damage and loss of UAVs during reconnaissance missions and developed a comprehensive solution that includes separate software and hardware products.
In June, the co-founders of Uklon created an investment fund to support Ukrainian defense-tech startups. The first major investment was financing for the startup Buntar Aerospace, which developed a reconnaissance drone.
As the startup said, the team is working on developing two products:

Buntar Copilot: software for planning and executing reconnaissance missions that generates dynamic flight plans, taking into account all tactical and technical details: situational awareness, weather forecast, altitude map, signal maps and other sources. It automates 90% of the UAV operator’s work in planning and managing missions, and is also compatible with other UAVs.

Buntar One: a tactical-grade reconnaissance UAV with an additional camera and an AI-based visual navigation module.
The new investments will go towards R&D, component procurement, and team expansion. Currently, testing is underway at the Buntar One UAV range and integration of the Buntar Copilot software with other UAVs.
To date, the Buntar Aerospace team has raised $2.2 million in investment. This round was attended by both Ukrainian and foreign investors, most of whom wish to remain anonymous.
