SkyDrop (formerly Flirtey) was a leading innovator in the commercial drone delivery industry. Founded in 2013 in Australia and later headquartered in Reno, Nevada, the company made history in 2015 by completing the first FAA-approved drone delivery in the United States.

SkyDrop’s mission was to revolutionize logistics by providing instant, safe, and cost-effective delivery solutions through autonomous drones.

The company developed a comprehensive ecosystem, including drone delivery aircraft, enabling software, and launch platforms, to serve various industries such as e-commerce, food delivery, and healthcare. In 2023, SkyDrop received approval from New Zealand’s Civil Aviation Authority to launch regular drone deliveries in Huntly, marking a significant milestone in its global expansion efforts.

Despite its pioneering achievements, SkyDrop faced financial challenges and filed for bankruptcy in February 2024, leading to the cessation of its operations.
