LUCAS

Low-Cost Uncrewed Combat Attack System

Product descripton: LUCAS by SpektreWorks

LUCAS (Low-Cost Uncrewed Combat Attack System) is a U.S.-developed loitering munition created to expand affordable airpower options for modern battlefields. Developed by Arizona-based SpektreWorks, the system is positioned as a cost-effective analogue to the Iranian Shahed-136, optimized for flexibility, reusability, and rapid fielding.

Design & Configuration
The UAV features a delta-wing configuration with a piston engine, visually similar to the Shahed/Geran-2 family. It is built on an attritable platform architecture, emphasizing low cost, simplified logistics, and operation in austere conditions. LUCAS supports both reusable and one-way attack configurations.

Mission Roles
LUCAS is designed as a multi-role unmanned system capable of:

  • Loitering strike missions

  • Reconnaissance and ISR support

  • Acting as a communications relay node

  • Target drone and threat emulation roles

Its open architecture allows integration of multiple payload types and supports modular mission tailoring.

Launch & Deployment
The system supports multiple launch options, including catapult launch, rocket-assisted take-off (RATO), and truck-based deployment. These features enable rapid employment by non-specialized personnel with minimal preparation.

Networking & Autonomy
LUCAS supports autonomous cooperative missions and swarm-style operations. It can operate as part of a mesh network, serving as a relay node within the Multi-domain Unmanned Systems Communications (MUSIC) architecture to maintain secure communications in contested environments.
