R18

Ukrainian unmanned combat aerial vehicle designed to attack enemy targets with ammunition.

Product descripton: R18 by Aerorozvidka

Purpose

The R18 is a drone designed for both military and civilian use. This octocopter can be employed for surveillance and reconnaissance, cargo delivery, or strike missions. As of 2022, Aerorozvidka considers the strike capability the most relevant, since many other camera-equipped drones can handle information gathering. The system is intended to destroy enemy equipment, small fortifications, and ammunition depots.

Technical specifications

The R18 is a multirotor-type unmanned aerial system. It is an octocopter, meaning a multirotor drone with eight propulsion rotors, and thus equipped with eight motors to ensure greater reliability. The drone is capable of vertical takeoff and landing. Both Ukrainian and imported components are used in its construction.

To use the R18 drone as a bomber, Soviet cumulative anti-tank grenades RKG-3 or RKG-1600 bombs—developed by the Mayak factory based on the RKG-3—are employed. Each RKG-1600 weighs 1.6 kg and has enough power to disable lightly armored targets with a top-down attack. Its accuracy is within one square meter from an altitude of 300 meters. The R18 can carry three such munitions and is capable of performing up to 40 combat sorties without requiring additional maintenance or repairs.
